未来予想的中 / 2005年センター試験（本試）英語

2005年センター試験（本試）英語 第4問は次の文で始まる。

Tourism is an important part of international trade today, and business activities connected with transportation, hotels, services, and entertainment for tourists are essential sources of income for many countries.（現在、観光産業は国際貿易の重要な一部分であり、輸送やホテル、サービス業、旅行者のための娯楽に関連した商業活動は、多くの国にとって欠かせない収入源である。）

その後、日本は旅行収支が赤字であることが述べられる。その原因を

Many foreigners have the idea that Japan is too far away and too expensive, and its language and culture too hard to understand.（日本は距離が遠すぎ、物価が高すぎる、さらに言葉や文化が難しくて理解できない、という考えを持っている外国人が多い。）

と説明している。

しかし、後半では

With its safe society and excellent travel facilities, there is no reason why Japan should not become one of Asia’s major tourist destinations.（治安が良い社会で素晴らしい観光施設があるから、日本がアジアの主要な旅行先のひとつにならない理由はない。）

と述べて、

最後には

The amount spent by foreigners in Japan may one day be more than that spent by Japanese overseas.（将来、日本で外国人が使う金額は、日本人が海外で使う金額を上回るかもしれない。）

と旅行収支が黒字になることを予想している。

そして、9年後の2014年には日本の旅行収支は55年ぶりに黒字になった！予想的中である！さすがセンター試験！

このこと（旅行収支が黒字になったこと）は日本経済新聞が報じている。

「経常黒字7兆8100億円　14年度、旅行収支55年ぶり黒字」
